Cookies Policy
This Cookies Policy governs the processing of data, including personal data, of users ("User" or "Users"), collected in the context of the use of Benfica Group websites and applications through cookies, by Sport Lisboa e Benfica (hereinafter "SLB"), as the entity acting as controller for the processing.
This Cookies Policy should be read in conjunction with the Privacy Policy, where SLB explains how we protect the privacy of Users in SLB's use of Cookies and other information.
For any questions about the Cookies Policy, the User may contact SLB through the e-mail linhabenfica@slbenfica.pt.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small information files placed by visited websites and stored in the browser of the device used to access the Internet (e.g., computer or cell phone). These files allow for a certain period for the website or application to "remember" the actions and preferences of the Users, namely the username, the chosen language, the font size, and other display settings. Therefore, when you scroll through the pages of a website or application or return to a website or application you have already visited you do not, in principle, must indicate your preferences again. Cookies can also be used to remember passwords so that you don't have to keep entering them.
Benfica Group websites and applications use Cookies to distinguish Users. These technologies help us provide a better experience every time Users navigate SLB websites or applications, allowing us to improve the website or application itself and provide targeted and personalized content, offers, campaigns, promotions, or information to different Users.
2. What type of cookies exist?
There are several types of Cookies. Cookies can be classified according to the following characteristics:
a) Cookies Lifespan:
- Persistent Cookies - are Cookies that are stored in the Users' access equipment (computer, cell phone, and tablet), even after closing the browser or application. They are used whenever a new visit is made to one of our websites or applications. They are generally used to target navigation to the User's interests, allowing us to provide more personalized service.
- Session Cookies - are temporary Cookies and are deleted from the Cookie file when or shortly after you close your browser or application. The information obtained by these Cookies allows us to analyze web traffic patterns, enabling us to identify problems and provide a better browsing experience.
b) Origins of the Cookies:
- First-Party Cookies – are Cookies sent to the User's terminal equipment from a device or domain managed by SLB and from which the service requested by the User is provided.
- Third-party Cookies – are Cookies sent to the User's terminal equipment from a device or domain that is not managed by SLB, but by another third-party entity over which SLB has no control.
c) Purpose of Cookies:
- Strictly necessary Cookies – those that are necessary to ensure the functioning of the website and/or to ensure the provision of features that are requested by the User.
- Analytical Cookies - these are Cookies that allow tracking and analysis of User behaviour. They are used to measure activity, to draw up User browsing profiles, to focus efforts on improving the most visited areas and making it easier for the User to find what they are looking for.
- Personalization Cookies - these are of an accessory nature (not necessary for the functioning of the website but may improve its performance) and are used to personalize the User's browsing experience.
- Advertising Cookies - these are the Cookies that allow you to manage, in the most efficient way possible, the advertising spaces found on the website and applications.
